Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. One dictionary definition of integrity is “adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.” In other words, having integrity means being honest with oneself and others, living by one’s values, and behaving ethically. It also means being truthful, loyal, and dependable.

While people who have integrity are respected for being honest, principled, fair-minded and reliable — what captures our attention the most is that they are also willing to stand up for what they believe in even if it’s not popular. Integrity is at the heart of who we are as individuals. When we act with integrity, we show the world that we have values that we will uphold and we will behave in a way that is true to ourselves and those values. Integrity is at the core essence of what makes us trustworthy and respected by others.
