Just like plants require water to grow, those thoughts that are nurtured with our attention grow as well.

Be careful which thoughts you give attention to because just like well-watered plants (or weeds!) what gets our focus is what tends to grow (and possibly take over!) whether we want it to or not.

Just like we weed our gardens to allow plenty of room for our flowers to bloom and our plants to establish healthy roots, it is helpful to weed out our minds.  It’s a great personal development exercise to consciously pull out those invasive idea species that have somehow managed to take up too much space in our head gardens.  Toss those weeded thoughts into the mental compost bin so new healthy ideas and thoughts will ultimately have all the ingredients necessary to flourish.  Don’t hesitate to throw in some fresh manure, too, so you’re less likely to rush back and revisit them!  😉
