I’m more comfortable doing than being. For a long time I questioned whether this meant I was running away from something and/or avoiding thinking.

Yet the fact is, over the years I’ve realized that I’m very comfortable running towards things. I totally relate to the adage: “Nature abhors a vacuum.” And, about not “being” and avoiding thinking? If this blog confirms anything, it could be that I think plenty, which aligns with another adage I’ve always believed: “The idle mind is the devil’s workshop.”

Doing is not exclusive to be-ing and vice versa. I be when I breathe. However, to me, overall be-ing also demands action, moving, progressing and, yes, thinking. But what I don’t spent more than 2 minutes thinking about? That which I cannot change.

When our kids were younger, I often reminded them:  “Little people talk about other people. Average people talk about things. Great people talk about ideas.”

So — when I think? Since I want to fulfill my own personal definition of great   during this life— I want my mind filled with thoughts of ideas, concepts, ways to improve myself, ideas to become stronger and stay healthy. Then, I get doing. In a way, its an owning-responsibility-thing for the life I am striving to live.

My philosophy for living more joyfully:  Be more comfortable doing rather than being. And breathe plenty along the way!
