Thoughts are not real. They are split second interpretations we use to add meaning to our moments. Many can observe an identical situation and have quite different interpretations.
We can’t win the fight to stop thinking. We can however learn to observe our thoughts, such as: Wow, I’m having a lot of thoughts about xxx. I’m having a thought about feeling jealous. I’m having a though that he’s a jerk. I’m having a thought that she’s being nasty. I’m having a thought that this situation is impossible. I’m having a thought that I can’t do this.
There’s a big difference between labeling a situation or person vs. labeling a thought about it or their (or our own) actions. Thoughts do not define who we are, but our actions do.
