What do you believe? This is an important question because much of how life unfolds is based on our beliefs.
In case you haven’t guessed, for thirty+ years I’ve read every book I could find to better understand human emotion, myself, others and connection or lack thereof. Here is what I’ve come to believe. It’s my personal “belief statement.” Maybe you’ll want to recite it as well, or create your own.
I believe each of us must choose our own journeys in life and that we are the authority for our own truths accessed via our intuition and experiences. While I acknowledge the forces of both good and evil, I believe in doing my best to practice kindness, self-reliance coupled with tolerance for all points of view founded on embracing science, God and religion, philosophy, psychology, ethics and art. I believe that much of how life unfolds begins with our actions which are the manifestation of our thoughts: how we are received, respected, liked and loved. I believe that our interpretations of circumstances and the emotions we assign, are our unique personal responsibilities. We choose what to hold onto and what to release. I believe that each of us is the creator of our present life and the designer of our destiny. I believe life, even with all its wrinkles, is a gift and it is our responsibility to embrace it as such.
