I believe fruit is the ultimate natural hydration and vitamin delivery system.  Still, many are afraid to eat fruit because they believe it causes gas pains.

The most common reason people sometimes experience bloating or gas after eating fruit is that due to its high water content, fruit digests rather quickly. So if it’s forced to linger in your stomach too long because it’s been combined with a variety of other foods, it starts to ferment, much like grapes form the basis for wine…or vinegar.

Way back in 1939, Herbert Shelton and others wrote some pretty amazing books about their observations about human nutrition for the greatest of health.  Shelton suggested that food would digest most readily following these 7 simple rules.

1- Eat sweet fruits together

2- Eat subacid fruits together.

3- Eat acid fruits together.

4- You can combine sweet fruits with subacid fruits.

5- You can combine acid fruits with subacid fruits.

6- Don’t combine sweet fruits with acid fruits.

7- Always eat melons alone.

An incomplete listing of all the delicious fruits you might want to enjoy is here below!

Sweet Fruits include: Bananas, raisins, papaya, dates, figs

Subacid Fruits include:  Apple, blueberries, raspberries, apricot, mango, strawberries, blackberries, nectarine, cherries, peach, grapes, plums

Acid Fruits include:  Grapefruit, guava, pineapple, pomegranate, kumquat, tangerine, lemon, lime, oranges

Melons include: Cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, crenshaw, casaba, muskmelon, persion melon

Let me know how you feel once you try applying this rule!

AND, if you’re TurboCharging on the Expressway or SuperHighway, remember the ideal fruit meal consists of only one kind of whole fruit, but as much of that as you desire until you are satiated. And remember — Juicing is NOT a substitute for the whole real-deal fruit! Juicing puts way too much sugar into your body, but a whole fruit smoothie — with just fruit and water is an option.
