While computers can provide us with all kinds of answers, of far more importance is the ability of humanity to reason.

Reasoning seeks a cause, explanation or justification for an action or event. Reason is the power of a healthy mind to think, question, inquire, debate, understand and form carefully considered judgements through the process of applying logic.

Logic is reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.

While answers are convenient, it takes reason to consider the validity and rational nature of any answer — or the lack thereof

Sometimes we don’t even know where to begin with our questions. Sometimes we don’t ask questions because we don’t really want to know the answers.

Answers are not always satisfying, nor are they always true.  Sometimes they are downright illogical.  Reasons are what I want. Reasons that are reasonable.

I’ve spent a lifetime studying reason: cause, effect, truths, falsehoods and executive decision making impacted by goals, beliefs, attitudes, traditions and institutions.

Reasons usually explain actions with far more information than answers provide.

That’s what I’m thinking about…carefully.
