Sometimes in life you meet someone that changes you. In my case, this is my public declaration: I met Charlotte Reardon and I’m in love!  She’s 30 years younger than me. Hails from London across the pond. Grew up totally differently than I did. Wasn’t even born when I was singing Queen songs in my bedroom in the late 70s or later when I was plastering my 1980s big hair with AquaNet and listening to New Wave and heavy metal.

Charlotte is a lifelong athlete. A highly trained ballerina, former Rockette and a runway model that has been hailed in all sorts of fashion magazines for bringing an entirely new energy to fashion shows. She cycles all over NYC and other cities as well.

We met at a lunchtime charity event. Our first acquaintance lasted all of about 5 minutes before she had to run to a next event. But in those moments — something about her energy and smile caught my attention. My gut said: She’s a good one. I gave her my number and proposed a future meeting. A week or so later she texted me and we penciled in an hour for coffee. The “date” lasted 3 hours! We shared a bit about ourselves, drank a coffee or two and laughed. I also smiled non-stop.

That was back in April. We started meeting once or twice a week. Taking about everything. Laughing 99% of the time with some tears thrown in as we shared our histories and presents.

We began to brainstorm. Imagining the possibilities of collaborating. Merging our energies and connections. Our visions were aligned. Now, we’ve joined our creative energies with @creativecontentloft

I’m easily old enough to be her Mother. Yet, we’ve become friends. We seem to have more connections than differences. At 62? I’m reinvigorated and feeling a renewal on my lease with life.

Friendships can develop in most unexpected and unanticipated ways. Anticipate possibilities and you may be rewarded.
