No matter how old we are some of us are still afraid to declare that we need time alone. The root of this is that we’re worried others will label us “selfish.”

Let me share a different perspective. When we are tired all the time it is basically impossible to be sensitive to the needs of others.

On top of this, I don’t know about you but I think more damaging than potentially being selfish, is being a volcano waiting to erupt.

Seriously ask yourself: Would it be better to say “I need some time alone” OR to scream, rant and rave when you ultimately blow your fuse because you couldn’t express that you needed time out?

I think you know the answer.

So, next time you question whether you are entitled to time alone, remind yourself how delightful you are when you lose your cool, use a biting tone of voice, snap, roll your eyes, slam things in ‘silent’ fury or otherwise act out.

Be honest.

We all have our limits and we all need time to regroup — Alone. IF you Doubt me? Maybe you trust every mega spiritual leader from Moses to Buddha to Jesus. They all took alone time.  And you know what else? Nobody called them selfish.
