Philosophy comes from the Greek words “to love” and “wisdom.” I like rereading the words of the Greek Roman philosophers, who lived right around 6th Century BC– just prior to the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, who, as recorded in the New Testament, expanded philosophical discussions by preaching about the oneness of God and love, building on scriptures recorded in the Old Testament, gathered between 1200 to 165 BC.✨These philosophers remind me that humanity is timeless. ✨Here are some of my favorites.✨“Everything flows, and nothing abides, everything gives way, and nothing stays fixed.”- Heraclitus✨ “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”-Epictetus✨ “Quality is not an act, it is a habit.”-Aristotle✨ “When you are offended at any man’s fault, turn to yourself and study your own failings. Then, you will forget your anger.”-Epictetus✨ “One thing I know: That I know nothing. This is the source of my wisdom.”-Socrates✨ “Know how to listen and you will profit even from those who talk badly.”- Plutarch✨ “You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.”-Aristotle.✨ “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”-Heraclitus✨ “For a man to conquer himself is the first and noblest of all victories.”- Plato✨ “Difficulties are things that show a person what they are.”-Epictetus✨ “Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.”-Plato✨ “Much learning does not teach understanding.”-Heraclitus✨ “Skillful pilots gain their reputation from storms and tempests.”-Epicurus✨ “Nothing exists except atoms and empty space: Everything else is just opinion.”- Democritus✨ “Man: A being in search of meaning.”-Plato✨ “I am more afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion than an army of lions led by a sheep” – Marcus Aurelius.✨ “First, do no harm.”-Hippocrates ✨ “Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.” – Jesus of Nazareth✨  I’m @DianGriesel aka @SilverDisobedience
