Love is like infinity. A continuum, expanse, immensity, limitless, myriad of space. We can’t have more or less infinity. It is endless in time and place, likewise, no two things can be equal in their infinite nature. We don’t have to worry if we love — or are loved — more or less, as the boundaries of love cannot be measured due to its ubiquity.
Love and care of others, which we’ve likely done a lot of, may be doing now and might be doing or receiving a lot more of in our advancing years, requires kindness, patience, tolerance, joy for another’s successes and lots of optimism about the wonderful things often hidden deep within another at their core (which may not always be so obvious.) As well, to love requires the ability for all involved to keep giving without much thought as to what we’ll get from the return of our time and energy. More challenging with love, is knowing that love and care will involve moments when nobody is kind, patience is short; tolerance is limited at best; doubt rises; disappointments happen and self-doubt about our choices crops up.
No single person was or can be the “be all and end all of love” as this would contradict the infinite nature of love. It is all around us coming from many sources, if we choose to see it. We may have had a great love in our lives, or even felt we had a few. This does not mean love for us cannot presently exist again. Also, if we feel we “missed” something, “never had that great love,” maybe we weren’t seeing clearly what was around us, and we need to open our hearts today, as love also comes in many forms. Love doesn’t pass anyone by and it is always there to be embraced if we are open to allowing its expansion. The possibility to love again and again always exists. As Buzz Lightyear says: To infinity and beyond.
I send love to you. Thank you for joining me on this journey by reading my blog and sharing your thoughts. You fill my heart with infinite love and inspiration daily. Love it live, Dian
