Humble listening is an essential skill for a life filled with synchronicity, greater opportunity and harmony. It’s often the key difference between feeling life is going along swimmingly vs. raining on our parades in ways we might not like.
While it may seem silly to point out: Every “body” has a life. As such, each person we encounter has been collecting their own set of friends, knowledge and experiences — just like we have been. If we apply humble listening in our conversations, we will learn all the ways our lives may be similar and possibly complementary in ways that offer all concerned new opportunities.
By welcoming encounters with as many people as we can meet in life and taking the time to humbly listen to their stories, history, advice, ideas and thoughts instead of feeling compelled to rush in and tell them all about ourselves, we increase our knowledge and connections in ways that are undefinable.
Perhaps these others may kindly open their doors and make new introductions for us. Maybe they’ll have imparted new knowledge or awareness of opportunities. Maybe we’ll actually find a deep connection that forms the basis of a priceless friendship. And best of all: Maybe all of that will happen, collectively.
By humbly listening, we can form deep friendships in unimaginable ways. As always, I would love to hear your thoughts.
