Have you ever felt you can’t escape a feeling? Like it seems consuming all that you’re thinking about? The type of feeling is irrelevant. We could name it a positive or negative feeling, if we wanted to label our emotions.  ✨

Sometimes when we feel consumed by a particular emotion — we get even more feelings about it! Feeling the feeling might scare us. It could make us feel guilty. We might even notice blame arising towards ourselves for feeling it or even towards others because we’re feeling it. It is also possible that we might feel something that makes us feel so happy, that we become afraid of feeling it in the first place. ✨

Here’s the thing. Feelings don’t make anything so. Feelings aren’t facts. However resisting them, is rarely effective and sometimes we wouldn’t want to resist them anyway.✨

The secret to managing our feelings is to feel what they feel like. ✨

Through a little bit of “feeling immersion” we can begin to identify the “how” of “how we feel” that underlies the feeling — and, if necessary, know how to release it constructively. ✨

Here’s how to Practice Feeling Immersion. The next time you have a feeling that makes you distinctly notice it, Stop. Notice the physical sensations that you are feeling. Learn to identify the sensations that are directly related to that feeling: Your temperature. Heartbeat. Breathing. Hearing. Seeing. Allow yourself to experience all of the sensations associated with the feeling. ✨

Once we begin practicing moving emotions from an emotional to an observational physical plane, we can witness their fleeting nature and see them for what they are. ✨
