Personal stylist, YouTube influencer and QVC fashion presenter Tracy Gold shares her top style tips for short women.

Do you feel that being short keeps you from looking as stylish and fashionable as you would like to be?  Here are a few of my tried and tested style tips on how to dress taller INSTANTLY…without wearing painful high heel shoes.

I used to feel that being short restricted my style and I hardly ever wore flat shoes.  And then I went to Italy. I realized that Italian women are actually quite short and yet they are known for being some of the most stylish women in the world! I also noticed that they don’t hobble around the cobbled streets wearing high heel shoes.  This inspired me to start embracing my height, or lack there of, for what it is.  I also discovered ways to dress that made me look taller, even without wearing uncomfortable high heels.  Here are a few examples:

Wear fitted clothing that defines your waist

By defining your waist you make your legs look like they start from your waist instead of the end of the top you are wearing.

Wear short length dresses and skirts:

If you like your legs, this is an easy way to make your legs appear longer.  If you don’t want to show your knees, opt for a length on or just below the knee.  If don’t want to show your legs, you can wear leggings or tights under a short dress or skirt.

Wear mid to high rise pants and jeans:

This works like wonders to make your legs appear longer. If you are comfortable to tuck your tops in, this will further elongate your look. If not, mid to high rise waistbands allow you to wear shorter, fitted tops that show your shape and make you look taller.

Wear nude shoes:

Wearing a shoe close to the color of your skin will make your shoe look like an extension of your foot, making your legs appear longer (even if you are wearing flats).

Avoid anything ¾ length:

I hear many fashion experts say that if you are short, you should wear cropped lengths to make you look taller. I find the opposite to be true.  The eye is drawn to skin, so when you wear a cropped or ¾ length, it automatically shortens your length.
