Now, let’s talk about protein. TurboCharged is a health program for vegetarians, carnivores and cafeterians alike and there are all kinds of ways you can (and must) consume the protein the body needs for growth and repair.

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. In total, there are 20 amino acids and 9 are considered “essential” because they must be obtained by the body via foods we eat. It’s not necessary to consume them all at one meal because the best way to understand amino acids is that they work in the body like a bank that is open 24-hours: Always available for both deposits and withdrawals. As long as the “bank” stays “fully-funded” via a diet that takes full advantage of a wide variety of protein sources within a 24-48 hour period, you’ll be consuming enough protein. •  While many think in terms of meat, eggs and milk when seeking proteins sources, here’s a brief, incomplete listing of a few plant-based TurboCharged foods that contain all 9 essential amino acids.  

Fruits:  Bananas, Tomatoes, Dates

Nuts: Almonds, Coconuts, Filberts, Sunflower Seeds, Walnuts, Brazil Nuts, Pecans, Hazelnuts

Vegetables: Alfalfa Sprouts, Bean Sprouts, Carrots, Eggplants, Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli, Cabbages, Corn, Okra, Sqashes, Turnip Greens, Asparagus, most Beans & Lentils, Cucumber, Kale, Peas

Grains: Quinoa
