Offering our unrequested opinions on others is like adding gasoline to fire. Even when we’ve been asked to share our opinion, it is prudent to ask ourselves before engaging our mouths, “Is my opinion: Thoughtful, Hurtful, Intelligent, Necessary or Kind?”  In other words, take the acronym of those words, and THINK long and hard before sharing an opinion.

Resisting urges to opine is really, really hard to master. I am NOT claiming to have mastered it.  But I can say this: IF we take the time to THINK before adding gasoline to a raging fire, our more rational self may rule our lips and reconsider whether it’s time to just nod instead.

A nod is not necessarily a physical form of agreement. Rather, just like in many cultures: Saying yes does not mean, “Yes, I agree” — it means “Yes, I acknowledge that you have said something.”

Remember, anything will burn with gasoline. Proceed with caution!

PS:  This photo is an overexposed selfie…yes, pun intended! I liked the orange. It reminds me of fire.
