Finding a mantra is one of the best ways to start a day off on the right note and keep us singing when moods start to dip from any number of life’s zingers. A mantra is a phrase that we relate to, that helps define our life philosophy and might aid in keeping us going in whatever direction we want to go in life.
The idea is to choose a phrase that inspires and comforts. It could be a line we read, a proverb, something we heard or even lyrics from a song.
My favorites vary depending upon the day or moment. My kids find me very annoying because I’ve used affirmative mantras my entire life, so I seem to have a one-liner collection that I use for every situation that arises. I like to keep them simple so I can get back to basics as quickly as possible.
Here are a few of my favorites in no particular order: It’s all good…Choose peace…Get over it…Life goes on…It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll…To everything, there is a season…I say to myself, it’s a wonderful world…I’m choosing love…Breathe…
When you pick a favorite—repeat it often. The more you do, the more likely it will become automatic when you need it, and it will provide quick comfort.
