Aging is really fifty-plus shades of gray.

First off, we don’t know what we’re getting into when we cross over into our fifties.

We might have read about aging but until we experience it, we really have no clue what the heck we’re in for.  If we happen to be one of those experiencing extreme fluctuations of hormones and symptoms of menopause — then we know better than most what it means to be really hot.

Our relationships are intimate because we are mature enough to talk about what matters. Sex is still important, but we know it will never be the foundation for building strong relationships. The fact is: we could teach lessons all about risky business because many of us are parents and grandparents so we know how to do-it!

At 50-plus-and-fabulous we could also teach classes about passion because we’re also living lives that are highlighted by doing even more of other things we love, too.

The salvation so many seek in younger days is found in our beliefs, family and relationships along with a new appreciation of naps and a good night’s sleep!

Our hair is turning silver, white and gray and we might be losing it altogether. Frankly, this seems to help us clarify the grey areas in our lives because we’re more confident and full of self-awareness as to who we are — beyond our mere physical being — than we were during our younger years because we’ve worked on our personal development.

We’ve learned that life is fifty shades of gray. It always was, but we may not have noticed. We know it’s not all black and white.  There’s color, dimension and depth. These days? Somehow, we see so much more clearly now. It’s a real benefit of aging.

Whether we’re sporting colored hair or silver hair or are now bald and beautiful, we are way more experienced in pretty much anything and everything than a mere fifty shades of grey.
