It’s very helpful to remember that there is a direct correlation between how we feel and how we behave. For example: I know that stopping to take a few deep breaths or taking a walk when tempers start rising is a good idea. If I choose to take that breath or walk, I then feel more in charge of my emotions, thoughts and actions. On the other hand, if I choose to act out my anger, I don’t particularly feel good in the aftermath regardless of who was right or wrong or whatever triggered the escalation.
It is helpful to remember this.
We have a choice. And, our decision will reflect in the feelings that follow our behavior.
