We all have those times when we feel alone, overwhelmed and tired. Life can feel insurmountable, as if the pileup of crap on our plate is never ending. Time after time. More, more, more. One thing after another. Where the heck are the instructions, right? We would all follow directions if only we could all get the same book. But that’s just not how it is though, is it?

Life happens. While there are certainly factors we can influence, like looking both ways when we cross the street, there are no ironclad guarantees that we will get through life unscathed no matter what we do or how we plan. We can exercise every day but we can still have a heart attack. We can do amazing work on the job but we can still get fired. We can do the best we can for our kids and it may still result in a lifetime of therapy. For greater peace, we must accept things for what and how they are. We have to trust that we are doing our best in the moment—and our best is good enough.

Life is challenging and so are the people we meet along the way. We’re all on our own journeys. Somehow, sometimes, our roads seem to intersect marvelously or, conversely, collide horribly. Children, family, work, money, bills and other responsibilities, whatever—the endless stream of demands on our time, attention, financials and energy is formidable.

But you know what? Hang on. A new day will dawn. You can rally. Stay in the moment, focus on what you can do to manage and cope. Each new moment is a new possibility. Breathe. Don’t quit. Hang on. We are not alone.
