The idea of commitment for many reads like:  “You stand by me, I’ll stand by you.”  In theory, that’s great. But, too often it seems that all kinds of relationships go awry because somebody gets caught in the idea of “Don’t change.” Or, “I liked you how you were.” Or, “Why did you have to start doing things differently?”

Imagine if we all could expand our views on commitment to really support and allow for the evolving nature of all humans?  What if instead we each viewed commitment along the lines of: “I commit to evolving into the best person I can be. You commit to evolving into the best person you can be. Let us travel our individual roads, meeting at our intersections to celebrate our commitment to each other and our mutual growth.”
