The pathway to personal peace actually resides within the colliding realizations of what we want and what really is. Those moments when we say: Will he ever stop snoring? Why does she have to be so annoying? That noise is grating on my nerves. Why can’t everyone do what I want? Why do I have to do this? How much longer do we have to be in this car?
These times are actually our opportunities to practice peacefulness. We can get stressed, or we can choose to breathe, recognize that the situation is out of our control, and simply accept that — while it may not be what we want… it is what it is.
