Did you know that our mistakes and stumbles might actually be perceived as making us more lovable?  ✨ Back in 1966, Elliot Aronson, a social psychologist, conducted some research that determined that those who are perceived as smarter or very competent become more likable when they perform an everyday blunder, pratfall or stumble of some kind.  ✨ Long story short, in the study, 48 men were recorded while answering game-show-like-questions. The listeners were told the men were divided equally by intelligence. Of the contestants who were in the highest scoring group, some could be heard saying, “Oops! I spilled my coffee all over my suit.” When the listeners were asked which contestants they enjoyed listening to the most—it was those clumsy coffee spillers, who were ranked as more likable. ✨ Mistakes seem to make us all more human, relatable and non-threatening. Since we’re going to inevitably make mistakes no matter how perfectly we plan, why not stop worrying about the mistakes we might make…and just start messing up right now! Whether our plans work out exactly as planned or not — maybe just by showing the effort and trying we’ll become even more endearing through the process. That sounds like a win to me!✨
