If we find ourselves in less-than-desireable situations, feeling more sadness than joy, it might be due to our consciousness being dominated by illusions regarding our power to change people or situations.

To reframe our thinking, we need to recognize the cause and effect relationship between choices we are making because of distorted perceptions.

Frankly, I spend little time wondering about where I picked up any of the personal distorted perceptions that I realize I might be carrying. My concern instead is how to reset my thinking towards more constructive behaviors and choices.

I’m old and wise enough to know that my perceptions are a mix of how I see whatever “is” in the moment, which in turn is tied to my emotions, which are a mix of my memories. Considering that? My best action is to focus my full attention in the moment using my brain and all my senses: eyes, ears, nose and touch or even taste if possible.
