The best way to breathe to de-stress for greater health and well being is this:  

First, take a 2-3 solid deep breaths and let them out.

Then, start counting even breaths in and even breaths out. For example: IN 2, 3, 4, 5.  Out 2, 3, 4, 5.  IN 2, 3, 4, 5.  Out 2, 3, 4, 5. IN 2, 3, 4, 5.  Out 2, 3, 4, 5. 

The reason we count our breaths when stressed is because it occupies our thoughts because we don’t want our thoughts to be over-occupying our mind.
