Here’s a thought: The best day in your life is today. Not yesterday. Not what you’re planning for tomorrow. Not the major life event you’re anticipating celebrating, either.
Now if you’re questioning this for any reason — and no doubt there could be many issues pending in your life, just like mine and everyone elses’— here’s a mental readjustment tip: While we think happiness is a kind of joy we attain, this is illusory & actually a mind-game that keeps happiness elusive. Greater joy & life satisfaction is really about doing our best to reduce our stress levels in the life we’re living now.
The more quickly we can flip our mental mindset to seeing ways we can reduce our stresses, the greater happiness we will feel.
Having studied the power of the mind and hypnosis, along with nutrition, for 20+ years (yes, because you all ask: I am a card carrying member of the Hypotherapists Union & the American Counselors Association)— I can firmly say: While we cannot rid ourselves of stress in our lives, we can change our mindset about who & what is stressing us —and bring our body into the reduction-equation through breathing. This is why I add regular 15-second breathing reminders in my stories.
To get our mindset under our management, we need to really accept that everyone is on their own journey. We’re the tour director of our journey…and everyone else is responsible for theirs. Yes, our paths cross & intertwine. But major levels of stress are reduced if we keep the focus on ourselves & what we CAN do. When we DO, our sense of empowerment grows.
None of us know what’s coming next other than what we choose to do. Make the choice to focus on choosing, following through with action, instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing around you. Doing this offers the best guarantee for greater happiness and joy.
