Do you spend much time alone? Alone time is usually looked at one of two ways: 1) something to be avoided at all costs or 2) a rare and precious commodity.

Thanks to social media a new anxiety state has been declared:  FOMO or Fear of Missing Out. For those afraid of catching FOMO, those who might be feeling restless and irritated because of maybe missing out…a bit of alone time is especially warranted.  

Alone time isn’t a punishment. It doesn’t mean we are irrelevant, unappreciated, overlooked, or unimportant to all that might be otherwise happening. Rather, it is by spending time with ourselves and our selves alone where we develop our depth. Spending time in solitude with our thoughts we deepen ourselves and begin to see possibilities that we may have missed when we were crowded by others, rushing or “filling gaps” as Rocky told Adrienne.  

We all need to get way from the world to recover our peacefulness, perspective, personal truths and insights.  Whether its an hour of total privacy or more—find your alone time whenever you can. I find mine between 5am-6:30 daily before everyone else wakes up. I cherish this quiet time. I think, dream, hope, plan, prepare and strategize. My mind is clear. The moment is mine. It is when I’m alone, that I realize I’m not.
