When we put someone on a pedestal, idolizing them in some way over ourselves or another— the impact is that we’ve distanced ourselves from our mutual humanity.

We are no longer acknowledging or allowing ourselves to see that we are all humans coping with life and all it’s challenges, just maybe from a different perch in the tree of life.

Admiration is different. When we admire another, we are acknowledging, appreciating, recognizing, loving and praising — possibly with wonderment— the efforts that they have put forth.

Pedestals separate by idolization. Admiration unites by acknowledgement.
