A peaceful mind is an ultimate life goal. Peace does not mean living in a place with no disruptions, troubles, hard work or struggles. Peace means that regardless of what is happening around you, you can hang on to your inner sense of calm. Having a peaceful mind is the greatest goal any of us can seek and also possibly the hardest feat to achieve. Yet the only way we can ever have peace in our homes, at work or in the world is if we each seek to have peace begin in ourselves. I’m not saying it’s easy, nor am I claiming to have achieved it. Peace is my daily personal goal. It is my wish for today and every day that I will make my heart the ruler of my reactions to others instead of my mind. If I allow my heart to lead the way, I will improve control over my thoughts and choices in more positive ways.

To find our personal pathway to peace, we must each look deep within our hearts to find the barriers we have built against others, against ideas, against anything we are at odds with. Only by breaking down our personal walls and seeing others as one with us—struggling for peace themselves—can we have love and peace in our lives.

This is my wish for myself and for everyone today and everyday. Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.
