Right now in many ways events worldwide are compounding and it feels as if everything is spiraling out of control. The sense of unknown feels unnerving. More stress, less balance and unity — even within once close families and friendships.

Yet, the things that get us through remain completely within our control. Seriously. Yes, seriously.

Here’s what you can do:

1- Hold onto your faith. Whatever higher power you believe in? Keep believing and praying.

2- Keep hope alive. If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’ve had those moments where you’ve thought: “Wow! That’s exactly how I feel.” There is Universal Consciousness. We all feel the same emotions, albeit maybe at different times. That means we all want to live peacefully. Believe that and find ways in your own community to keep hope alive.

3- Love cannot be taken away. We each hold it in our hearts and choose to allow it to thrive or die.  Do what you can to keep love alive.

4- Turn off Internet News. The algorithms of the internet are designed to push more of only what we believe to us. If you believe the world is filled with adorable animals who always love each other — that’s what you will keep getting pushed into your newsfeed.  If you believe the animal world is “survival of the fittest” and they’re all eating each other? That’s all your feed will keep pushing to you because artificial intelligence makes it so.

5- If you feel a compelling need to stay attuned to the news? Balance your news. Take the time to click and read both sides of every story. Fact check. Read about the loving animals and the Dog-eat-dog ones, too. That is the only way you will be able to regain any sense of balance if you are addicted to news.

No matter what is happening in the world, we each control our perspective. We can choose to see all events as an end or an opportunity for growth and learning. We make these choices.

You are strong. You have capacity to grow with faith, hope and love. I encourage you to do so.

That’s what I’m thinking about. And, if you don’t believe what I’m telling you about algorithms — watch The Social Dilemma.  It will change how you view your social media newsfeed forever.
