There are things we all do that we might complain about, but really don’t intend to change. If we did want to change, we’d start changing. ✨

Instead, we make excuses, rationalize and pretend we’ll get to it…but the fact is: On some level we’ve decided whatever “it” is, is just not a priority. ✨

As adults, if we’re not already doing so, it’s time to accept all of our choices. ✨

Here are the four steps to practicing acceptance of those things we really have no intention of changing: 1- Stop the denial about whatever “it” is that we say we’re going to change, but haven’t and aren’t. 2- Stop judging ourselves for our choice. Just accept this is our choice and it doesn’t require justification to anyone. 3- Get real. Life is not slowing down for any of us. We’re all getting older. As such, we might as well accept the who, what, why, where and how we are.  4- Be attentive to what we are choosing and doing. Remember, actions speak louder than words. ✨

Everyday life is filled with things we don’t necessary like, but require acceptance. This goes for ourselves and the world. I’ll give you two examples, general & personal: First, we know death is a part of life. We don’t like that, but we have to accept it. Second, for years I beat myself up over 5 pounds: That I couldn’t lose it, how I needed to eat or exercise to lose it, that I was weak for not getting it off and keeping it off.  Then I practiced the steps above: 1- I really wasn’t willing to do what was necessary to lose the five pounds and keep it off. 2 – I cut myself 5 lbs. of slack and stopped judging myself for it. 3- I accepted that my face actually looks better with the 5 pounds because it plumps up my wrinkles!  4- I chose to become a moderate healthy eater vs. someone who “diets.”  So far, it’s working out just fine!✨

As always, I look forward to your thoughts! ✨
