Don’t wait until you “feel like doing” whatever needs to be done. Procrastinating won’t help. Instead, we need to get in gear and start doing it. My mother used to annoy me by saying: “10 minutes into the job and it’s half-way done.” Literal that I was at the time, my teenage-self thought that her statement was ludicrous! I knew it was going to take me two hours to weed the garden or rake the leaves— so what the heck math was she using to determine that 10 minutes was half of 120!
But now I realize my Mom was right then…and she’s still right now.
Here’s why: Getting started is half the battle.
If we wait for inspiration, it might never arrive. But once we start whatever needs to get done, the odds favor we’ll keep going until we finish or at least make a good dent in the project…thus, we’re already then winning the battle.
Whatever it is that you want to do, need to do, think might be good to do…whatever: Get your motor running and do it. You’ll be glad you did.
